Genesis:
The simle eyes of a wasp surrounded by the dusty head hairs
make the impression of a mountain troll in a snowstorm

Indian ink on raster electron microscope (REM) picture printout.
A REM picture of a dorsal part of a wasp head was printed on canvas, and interpreted with coloured drawing ink.
Original picture size: 100 x 80 cm (original magnification: 100 x).

In zoology an ocellus (lat. "small eye"; plural: ocelli) is a
small light sensing organ of simple construction ('simple eye'). Ocelli can be found in variuos animals.
In insects they are located on the dorsal part of the head, between the large compound eyes.
